Since the citizens of District 3 first elected Roscoe Turner, he has relentlessly worked to put the needs of District 3 and of neighborhoods all over the city above the wants of the midtown ruling elite. At this critical juncture in our City’s history, we must send to City Hall leaders who will resist the desperate onslaught on fairness and equality by the privileged few. Roscoe’s integrity and determination along with his proven record necessitate his return to the Tulsa City Council.

Vote for Roscoe Turner
Two years ago, Tulsa almost made a terrible mistake.
In the Democratic primary for City Councilor District 3, David Patrick apparently defeated Roscoe Turner by three votes. Turner smelled a rat when he examined the vote totals. He discovered that some voters had listed “empty lots” as home addresses and some Republicans had voted in the closed Democratic primary.
Since there was no Republican opponent, Patrick apparently won the election. Turner, using his own money, appealed and the case wound up in the Oklahoma Supreme Court, which ruled for Turner and eventually ordered a new election.
In that new election, Turner won by more than 200 votes. It’s interesting to note that no one at the Tulsa County Election Board was reprimanded, lost his or her job or was arrested for those “problems” with that election.
On March 7, Turner and Patrick will face each other again. The winner will face Republican Gerald A. Rapson in the April 4 general election.
Turner is retired and is an independent thinker. He is a man of great faith. He judges each issue on a case-by-case basis. He battles for District 3 and has been a staunch advocate of greater public safety, improved roads and issues involving homeowners around Tulsa International Airport.
Turner is a reasonable man and will work with folks regardless of their political affiliation. He doesn’t lightly suffer fools and he has proven over and over again that he will challenge the status quo even if it means disagreeing with Mayor Bill LaFortune, the Tulsa Metro Chamber of Commerce or other powerful business interests.
Tulsa and District 3 need Roscoe Turner and the Tulsa Beacon offers its full endorsement for his re-election.
